Who makes Klatos

Jean SILGA, who builds and runs Klatos, in a grey jacket and white shirt

I am Jean SILGA. I have been a software engineer since 2011, and an architect since 2019. I have worked on critical IT services in banking, insurance and defence: identity, security, and the infrastructure underneath. I am a Kubestronaut, with 15 CNCF certifications.

I also run. I ran the Paris Half Marathon in 2024, and the Paris Marathon in 2024 and 2025.

I build and run Klatos through Vixoris, my studio. When you write to Klatos, the person who built it answers.

Why it exists

Years ago I read one sentence in a book by Christophe André, quoting Aristotle: “We are what we repeatedly do.” It never left me.

From 2021, I kept my habits in a notebook. It worked for a while, then it faded. Some days the notebook was not with me. And on paper, I could not see the progress adding up.

In May 2025, I set out to consolidate my own skills. I began with the CNCF certifications. To keep an accurate record of my days, instead of relying on gut feeling, I built a spreadsheet and used it every day. It held. I cleared 15 certifications.

Next, I built a cloud-native platform from scratch, to put what I had learnt into practice.

Then the spreadsheet became an app, running on that platform. That app is Klatos.

The certifications, the platform and Klatos all started as work for myself. Now I am sharing Klatos with the world. I use it every day.

How it is run

Klatos runs on that platform, which I built and operate through Vixoris, my studio. Your data lives on servers in the EU. I wrote up how the platform was built, in the open: how the platform was built from scratch, and the road to running it on Kubernetes.

How the record itself is kept (how a day closes, how it freezes, how you export it and how you delete it) is on the Integrity page.

Your record is yours

You can export all of it, any time, as JSON or CSV, free on every plan. That will not change. If Klatos ever had to stop, you would hear it from me first, months ahead, and export would stay open the whole time.
